| 1291882 | 2012-07-31 10:06:00 | I have a Win7 DVD with SP1 I know it contains all the versions from home upwards but will it also contain starter? I have a netbook to repair sometime that had starter on it, if not I might put Puppy on instead |

| 1291884 | 2012-07-31 10:18:00 | That's been done, but from what I have been reading starter is supposedly only available from the OEM manufacturer, hat's why I'm asking | gary67 (56) | ||

Doing it that way, it will of course wipe the drive and partly install until you get to that option. Thats also how you can do a fresh install with upgrade DVD's in the case where someone has a blown HDD and has purchased upgrade Media instead of OEM or Retail. |

| 1291891 | 2012-07-31 23:26:00 | Just so theres no confusion, the options to select various versions is only there as it was mentioned before when the ei.cfg file has been removed. Gary did say that has been done(post #3). The ei.cfg is what actually determines what version is put in. If you try to install with the ei.cfg in place it will still only install what ever version the DVD is. |
