| 1291766 | 2012-07-31 01:29:00 | Hi Toshiba Laptop Battery The "dead one' In my Toshiba syas that it's Model Number PA 3534U-1BAS DC 10.8V/10.8V 4000mAh. A search of "The Laptop Battery Co" site throws up two alternatives, one a "Genuine Original", the other, not. What difference is there between the two please? 4037 Also, have you had any experience dealing with this company? Thanks |

What I assume is meant is that the genuine original is made by the OEM, in this case Toshiba, whereas the other one is made by another brand, but for that model. | 1291770 | 2012-07-31 02:21:00 | Note that Toshiba may not even make the "genuine" one themselves, and in fact, the cheaper one might be made by exactly the same people but just without Toshiba's logo on it. Or, the cheaper one may in fact be inferior, perhaps using lower quality cells and thus not lasting as many charge cycles or such. |

| 1291771 | 2012-07-31 04:36:00 | I know it's only one experience, but I bought a replacement non-OEM battery for my HP off them at the start of this year & have had no problems with it. They were good to deal with when there was confusion about the battery dimensions vs the photo on the site (I ordered during New Year holidays & just went with my gut instinct, without being able to get confirmation and being a bit uncertain) & I was originally sent the wrong size - was all sorted out OK. | 1291772 | 2012-07-31 04:42:00 | Yeah it's a gamble, go cheaper and hope it's just as good or spend extra for greater peace of mind. I've bought a few cheap replacement batteries for phones and cameras etc (never a laptop though) and they have pretty much worked as expected so far. I did get a spare battery for my current camera that claims to be higher capacity than the genuine part and isn't. It will increase your battery life. :) You can discharge completely occasionally to allow the charge level sensor circuits to recalibrate but you should not discharge a Lithium-based battery too deeply during normal use as this will shorten the life.
