1291308 2012-07-29 00:03:00 I have a Philips 109S 19 inch CRT monitor. It was purchased from DSE in April 2001 (for $1047!). I am using WinXP. Yesterday, suddenly the resolution setting changed. I do not recall the settings that I had, but was now was on 800x600 pizels, with 96 dpi. This was far too large, and was blurred. I changed the setting to 1024x768, which was too small. I changed back to 800x600, and 120 dpi which cleared the blurriness. The setting that I had had before this episode was somewhere between these limits, but no intermediate setting seems to be available. I have checked the original documentation and CD, but the supplied drivers are Win95,98, & 2000, so I am using one supplied by Microsoft. Is there anything that I can do other that replacing the monitor? Brucem (8688)
1291309 2012-07-29 00:59:00 The drivers for XP are here. If this is the monitor (www.p4c.philips.com). Did you install the videocard drivers? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1291310 2012-07-29 02:29:00 Brucem, if you run into trouble I have a good CRT monitor that you can have for nothing if necessary. I am in Chch. zqwerty (97)
1291311 2012-07-29 03:03:00 CRT monitor drivers don't really do anything except define what refresh rates are permissable, so the generic MS pnp driver will do. The important software settings are via the video card as Speedy implied.

Maybe the refresh rate has changed. Look up the specs for the monitor and set the refresh rate towards the highest it will take, it should be set not less than around 75HZ. Changing refresh rate may change picture size too.

There is no resolution normaly between 800x600 (which is way too low for a 19" monitor) and 1024x768.

The monitor considering its age may have , or is likely to have developed a fault or lost its settings.
