1267299 2012-03-29 02:42:00 I contacted my ISP (Slingshot) - they are offering unmetered access to Quickflix from today :)

1267300 2012-03-29 04:52:00 Quickflix? Forget it. :groan:

I was a fully paid up subscriber today for all of 3 hours 20 minutes. During that time I was not able to receive an image which wasn't almost constantly buffering. Being charitable that could be excusable if it could be put down to teething problems, but for a product that's only an extension of an OZ site, one might hope any teething problems may have been sorted out before expanding. But I phoned them to seek assistance.

Quickflix Customer service? Forget it. :groan:

Even the much maligned Filipinos offer better service than this OZ lot. One bloke said he'd call back within 5 minutes, and never did. He must have been an OZ because he spelled "aitch", "haitch." 30 minutes later, another call, another operator.

Turn to custard time. This "Officer" [!] as Quickflix calls them, had no concept of listening, almost continually talking over the top of me, and certainly didn't listen to my responses. For example I was asked 3 times had I turned the PC off today. 3 times I said yes (or words to that effect reflecting the progressing stages of my annoyance). The gist was there were more questions being asked, answered, the same question being asked again. Either this "Officer" had no recall ability or limited comprehension.

Quickflix Customer retention? Forget it. :groan:

The final chapter? I cancelled the service. They weren't really interested in any attempt at customer retention other than a token gesture.

Their final barb? "What else can we do to help you with today sir?" Rant over.

On the lighter side: "Officer"

Hope this clarifies what I was meaning to say :badpc:

1267302 2012-03-29 08:34:00 I experienced a few hiccups signing up and the website had a lot of issues. But once we had it going the service was great (the streaming I mean, not the customer service - haven't had to deal with that yet). Streaming direct to the tv - wife and kids watched a movie and a half this evening while I was out and they said it was great. I hope they allow the pay-per-view for TVs and not just PCs as the setup is now. Then we might actually do away with the DVD store.

1267303 2012-03-29 11:01:00 I signed up, worth a try. However from the quick play I had I'm not that impressed with the quality. Will see how I go. dugimodo (138)
1267304 2012-03-29 18:29:00 Yeah and the selection of NZ Movies is nowhere near that of the Aus one, and half the decent new stuff is pay per view?!?!

Edit: And the quality is pretty nasty. Just started Johnny English.... I was getting better quality some 10 years ago when I was first ripping DVDs.

I'm also getting buffering issues, but I'm easily getting 20mbps nationally and 10mbps to Aus...

1267305 2012-03-29 19:00:00 Are you guys with the buffering issues streaming to PC or TV? We've had no buffering issues so far (touch wood), but haven't tried streaming to PC, only direct to the TV. Shouldn't make any difference I guess, but it might?

Mike.

My buffering issue is with the PC. I feel vindicated that Chill also complains about the quality as well as the buffering.

The whole thing seems pretty mickey mouse. I'm intrigued that Orcon in particular decided to get in bed with them at this stage. Normally they get most of their stuff right.

PS I like your Avatar, Mike :D

1267307 2012-03-29 19:35:00 Decidedly unimpressed with both content offering and performance. I've had issues with buffering and such also, both at home (18mbps down 1mbps up) and at the office (1gbps/1gbps fibre). At this stage I have to say Sky TV's iSky service is much superior. inphinity (7274)
