1267905 2012-04-03 02:33:00 Having spent a bit of time in the States in the past including Alaska I not once felt the need to carry or even own a gun, admittedly I was careful about where I went in the big smokes but even out in redneck areas I never felt unsafe. It's amazing what having an accent will do to open doors gary67 (56)
1267906 2012-04-03 03:07:00 Actually - redneck areas are a lot safer than the inner cities.

And the accent thing works.

I have to agree they are generally safer at least in my experience, haven't made to Montana yet though

1267910 2012-04-03 03:44:00 We are referring to the states that do allow us to protect ourselves.

They don't call me Roy Rogers for nothing.

1267912 2012-04-03 05:33:00 Surprisingly - or maybe not - Montana has a few firearm manufacturers in the state and they don't have to comply with US Federal regulations as long as the weapons don't traffic out of the state. What is sold in Montana is not any of the gummermint's business.

Things like silencers, machine guns and sniper rifles are legal and sold and owned here under those circumstances. There is a fee - but it is not for the purchase, just the use of them.

Heck fire - up until a few months ago there wasn't even a state speed limit.

Those things are all totally 'controlled' at the Federal level so much that getting permits for them is all but impossible for all the filings, red tape and fees and psychological, mental & personality tests required to get them approved for purchase at the, again: Federal level. The one would need a law official to vouch-safe for you to qualify.

1267913 2012-04-03 06:14:00 Yeah right - unless you're a white guy shooting a black guy and then you can shoot people for no reason. news.yahoo.com

And the other way round, 2 British tourists killed by black guy in Philly, not much publicity here.

Lurking.
