1267582 2012-03-31 01:52:00 Perhaps they should have laid on some buses

Who is they?, its always some ***** fault isnt it?
You could bet your bottom dollar if free buses were put on they would be almost mt and crawling along in the traffic as well.
What is needed is a rat run around the main roads.

1267584 2012-03-31 03:20:00 \Who is they?, its always some ***** fault isnt it?well, yes, from a logistics point of view it can only be termed a failure, and someone was responcible for logidtics. They had an ides of expexted numbers yet had a system in place incapable of handling 1/10 of that number.Pathetic. esprcially in comparison to the event. 1267587 2012-03-31 04:26:00 Absolutely incredible trying to blame organizers of an airshow for traffic problems. Some were blaming the airforce for not advertising the airshow that much and now other mega plonkers are complaining they should organize logistics better. Like should the airforce had built extra lanes on the road?
Like numbnuts stay on crowded main roads instead of taking back roads then blame the airforce, god give me strength.

1267589 2012-03-31 05:59:00 We left here after being delayed by a phone call at 9.45 am. we rolled in the gates at Ohakea at 1.30. we had missed most of the flying i wanted to see.
It then took us an hour to get out of the car park when it came time to come home. and lucky me got to talk nicely to a police officer with flashing lights...:(

so long trip, grumpy children, huges people cues to get in the planes, and huge cues for food, and huges cues to and from the ohakea base........ and a ticket on way home, a bad day all round i think.:D

why did i get out of bed today? :p

1267590 2012-03-31 05:59:00 Alrighty, Now I'm back at home.

The roads weren't the issue, The choke point was the processing of people when they got to site, The 10.30am bulletin said that only 5000 people were on site at that time yet traffic was backed up in every direction for 15km.

Directing people down back roads would have only made the situation worse, More cars would have been funneled into a choke point where they couldn't be processed which would only have slowed the entire process down, and the gridloick would have been spread onto more roads.

Its a dumb plan with an obvious and dumb conclusion.

Almost as dumb as mentioning extra lanes, All it does is highlight the poor comprehension some people suffer under. Is that as far as you can think?

The problem was clearing people off the roads not the capacity of the roads themselves, They knew the expected numbers, they should have had a plan in place to get them off the road or hiked up the prices to lower the head count to a number they could manage.
