1267290 2012-03-29 01:39:00 Just wondering.....
In general, whats the obsession with music library mangers ??

I just store mp3's under the name of the album/artist.
Go into the music folder via explorer (not IE :-))
right click the folder I want & go play with VLC

Isnt that easy enough ??

1267291 2012-03-29 01:49:00 Maybe. I like to pull up GENREs though so I can get some musical practice.

Blues, Motown, Road House, Beatles, like that, and using a file system is the best for me.

1267292 2012-03-29 01:58:00 A couple I have played about over the years, all have good and bad features.

Aimp Player (http://www.aimp2.us/)

Foobar2000 (http://www.foobar2000.org/)

Using one other called J.River Media Center - Was free, but isn't now.

1267294 2012-03-29 02:25:00 As much as I like VLC for Video I tend to use windows media centre or media player for music. I'd probably use winamp as a second choice.

I've always avoided libraries and just used directories also, until I re ripped everything to windows to use with media centre. I'd hate it if it did that to me, ripping a collection is a lot of work. I didn't think MP3 had any real DRM function? if you google removing DRM from MP3 most results are about converting to MP3 from protected formats.

Just as a personal observation on winamp, last time I tried it it was looking pretty sophisticated with all kinds of skin options and a media library, playlists etc. I have a tendency to support it as I actually paid for winamp back when it was shareware and one of the only options for playing MP3 files.

1267295 2012-03-29 02:34:00 I had a quick play with mediamonkey once, seemed quite good. Hopper (14491)
1267296 2012-03-29 02:39:00 I'm gonna try Aimp2 right now - working my way through the list so far.

Mediamonkey sounds kinda like an old Bonzi Buddy thing - huh?

This is a lot of work. Yuck.

1267297 2012-03-29 03:31:00 A glaring example of media rights management at its worst, and you've been made a victim.

Be glad you won't be getting a letter in the post accusing you of theft of the media and seeking damages.

It won't be long until this is forced onto ISPs as well, to assist in having your OS and ISP rat on you (whether rightly or wrongly), much as our ISPs have to rat us out for alleged copyright infringements.
