1267073 2012-03-27 19:55:00 Don't know where you get your pricing from. A Onkyo TX-NR609B 7.1 receiver at JB HiFi is $698 and from New Egg it is $499 US.

1267074 2012-03-27 20:03:00 Pioneer vsX 1021. Pioneer NZ site $1799, best buy in the states $667 nz dollars plod (107)
1267075 2012-03-27 20:37:00 You can't trust the RRP on the Pioneer site, retailers will usually sell it for a lot less than that, especially if the product has been out for a while (meaning the RRP would be the original release price). Import tax is collected for any item where the tax exceeds $80. Less than that and they don't bother collecting it. For electronics, no extra import duties apply, so only GST at 15%, meaning if it costs less than approximately NZ$500 you won't be charged the tax. www.customs.govt.nz ryanjames.powell (13554)

If buying something like that from overseas the freight cost will kill you

1267077 2012-03-27 21:21:00 Didn't think about singapore. Do you know of any decent online shops there? The savings taking exchange but not shipping into account was about $950. The sad thing about it the receiver I was looking at isn't even a high end one.

No idea about AV and HiFi equipment, but I bought my Proxxon tool from http://shop.sgtooling.com/

1267078 2012-03-27 21:40:00 Again, how much is delivery?

A good amp is damn heavy, and I have been quoted over $300 just for a send over a laptop, and it doesn't look like best buy even ship internationally, Best you compare apples to apples so top speak.

Get the price plus delivery from a shop that can actually sell it to you, convert it into kiwi, add GST, see ho the numbers compare.

I've got to say I'm surprised anyone would use the RRP from the manufacturers website, and use that to compare to a shop on the side of the globe who you can't even buy from.

1267081 2012-03-27 22:07:00 Check out Onkyo amps. I have had a Onkyo TX-SR608 which I have had for just on a year and are very pleased with it. Personally I think Pioneer stuff is overpriced in NZ.
