1291712 2012-07-30 22:57:00 Uninstall zonealarm. I would use win7's firewwall. Its better Speedy Gonzales (78)
1291713 2012-07-30 23:20:00 does it allow me to selectively choose which programs i allow access to the internet, I'm a bit of a dinosaur and hark back to the days when windows wasn't better at anything so have always used zonealarm, but i do love win 7 kiwibits (5574)

Yes, with windows firewall you can allow a program through. Its pretty easy to do, just type 'firewall' into the start menu, and one of the results should be 'let a program through firewall'.

1291715 2012-07-30 23:38:00 Is it like ZA that asks when new programs try to access the net. I hate it the way so many programs want to access the net when there's no real reason for them to kiwibits (5574)

Right click on the ZA task bar icon and go restore or what ever it is then choose the Programs tab and find the Jdownloader entry and give it what ever permissions it needs.
Like you I rather like ZA because so many programs in Windows want to connect to the net when half the time they have no real need and if I am connecting via my cell phone I don't want them gobbling up my data.
