1291533 2012-07-29 23:49:00 I had a problem with MSE with an error message so uninstalled it and tried to reinstall a new version but an error in installing occurred. I checked Cnet for their download and their editor recommended the free Panda Cloud Antivirus as better. I've installed it and done a scan and it seems fine. Has anyone an opinion on the effectiveness etc of one over the other? Krad (7878)
1291534 2012-07-30 00:22:00 I wouldn't use cnet or download.com. Both add crap to their installs. If whatever you downloaded from cnet, / or maybe download.com, starts with cnet.xxx / or download.com.xxx avoid it. If you want MSE get it from the Microsoft site. Likewise for anything else. Get it from whoever made the program Speedy Gonzales (78)

1291536 2012-07-30 01:03:00 Well, pandacloud virus requires a constant connection to the internet. I'd go with MSE or Avast. Nick G (16709)
1291537 2012-07-30 03:24:00 Have uninstalled Panda but their popup advt for their professional version keeps popping up! How do I get rid of it? Also I got rid of my other anti spyware programs but still can't install Security ssentials. I used avast for years but MSE was recommended so I switched to it. Now I've none! Krad (7878)

What program did you use to uninstall it?. Also, try running CCleaner, that *might* do it.

1291541 2012-07-30 13:35:00 Panda must have installed some malware.
Search Google for "bleepingcomputer combofix"
I use combofix whenever a client has captured malware like this. Espescially that one that tells you have a virus and click here to clear it. Combofix can take longer than half an hour to run, but will remove all problems. I don't bother with cleaning the registery anymore as Combofix does all of that and more. Start it running answer all the question until you see the number of passes it is up to, then go and have a cup of coffee and come back.
Then you will be able to reinstall MSE or AVG free
