| 36921 | 2002-02-24 22:36:00 | I have an Athlon 800MHz processor on a Gigabyte GA-7ZX which has a Via KT133 chipset. I am running Win 200 Pro with 512MB RAM ? possibly 768 MB soon ? PC133MHz I have a NVidia GeForce 2-MX with 32MB RAM running at 4X AGP setting. Gigabyte support has confirmed that I can increase the speed by changing the dipswitches to enable up to 133 MHz. As a precaution I have set a 60-degree shutdown on the BIOS and have changed the settings up to 110 FSB up from the 100MHz default. Beyond that I just get a blank screen as if the Video drivers are not activated ? or perhaps hang. Have I reached the limit or is there more tweaking I can do? Advice needed please TIA Ron |

| 36922 | 2002-02-26 23:44:00 | You may have gone too far at 110MHz. Overclocking sometimes gives vexation when running actual applications. Why not get a faster 133MHz based Athlon, they do not cost much, and you can flick off the existing one. Most people can not type fast enough to require more than 800 MHz. Just a thought. |
