36898 2002-02-24 08:34:00 Last week I copied an audio CD on my CD-RW and discovered later that I now have 1304 *.idx files in my Documents folder, eg Ca00.idx, Ct00.idx, etc and these numbers will increase consequetively, along with other similar named files. They only have data like 'TIDX' and other strange symbols in them.

A handful of these *.idx files do belong to my emails in Outlook Express.

Are these files related to the Nero burning program as some kind of database for the audio CD that I copied? I can't see why they should be if there are over 1200 of them.

Will appreciate some enlightment.

36899 2002-02-24 08:39:00 Yes Nero uses those idx files as a kind of database to store details like artist, tracks, albums all types of information. I got a whole heap of them when I saved CD Information using Nero.

Other programs also use that extension for keeping track of data.

So do you get 1200 odd files for just one CD as well? What are the consequences of deleting them all? Will the PC just not recognise the name of the CD and the tracks on it?
