36870	2002-02-24 07:19:00	I recently acquired an old computer which had had the hdd formatted-- a 'non system disc' message. I reloaded DOS (which includes a format), used my 'CD setup' disc to get D: then attempted to install windows 95--which would normally work fine. However, windows 'setup' tells me that it 'encounters true type fonts' and cannot proceed. It also says to 'terminate any applications which may be using these'--what applications? I only have DOS and 'windows setup'. I also ran a format from Windows with no change. Am I going about it the wrong way? Any ideas? Thank you. dumdugie	Guest (0)
36871	2002-02-25 01:25:00	I suspect that your CD setup disk might not be the one provided by MS with a WIN95 CD. If you can boot plain old DOS, with access to the CD, go to the D:\WIN95 direcory, then type 'setup'. Otherwise, since you can access the CD somehow, make a direcory called WIN95 on the HD and xcopy the WIN95 directory from the CD to that. Then a plain DOS boot followed by 'c:\win95\setup' should get it going.	Guest (0)
36872	2002-02-25 09:43:00	thanks Graham for your response. yes I had tried all the angles 2different Dos versions. 3 different Wndows CDs. 2 different CD utilities. copied across etc. scanned hd. Windows trips up on the installation every time as if there is a gremlin in there. I will now try hd in a diferent computer I think. will let you know. dumdugie	Guest (0)
