| 36934 | 2002-02-25 02:19:00 | I have been trying to open some files in word pad but all i get is a whole lot of symbols and cant make any sense of it please help | Guest (0) | ||
| 36935 | 2002-02-25 02:40:00 | Wordpad only opens Word 6.0/95 format files, can't read later ones. That is why you get gibberish. Real text will be in there somewhere, but formatting will be pretty hairy. Best to convert down to Word 6.0/95 first (maybe get a friend to do it). robo. |

| 36936 | 2002-02-25 02:44:00 | Wordpad is meant for you to access wordprocessor files produced by Word. (filename.doc) It will display any bytes whose codes are 'printable' in any file. If you get gibberish, the files will be 'binary' files of some sort --- .exe, .com, etc, or compressed files (.zip, .rar, .CAB, ...) or graphics (.jpg, .gif, .bmp, ... ). |
