| 36814 | 2002-02-23 23:25:00 | During off-peak IHUG dial-up connections in TIMARU, my browser sometimes will idle half-way through downloading a web-site page. Use of PING and TRACERT confirms that my connection is unable to contact the IHUG host server. Sometimes disconnection and redialling will not restore the server communication. Can a loss of server connection be caused by a server fault or server overloading? |

You could have the following problems: - Bad modems on the ISP side - The ISP bandwidth is overloaded (even at off-peak). |

Nothing there that helped, and blame is always diverted to user or Telecom! I may look at using a second pay as you go ISP as an alternative, but have not been able to confirm that others have same problem with IHUG here. I can work around it, and I am not paying for the dead time, but would like to confirm the cause. Thanks. |
