37042 2002-02-25 13:57:00 For some reason I can no longer access the home page for my previous ISP from my own computer. There is no problem with the site, I can access without problem from other systems but keep getting a mesage to say that the page is unavailable/cannot find the server whenever I attempt to go there on my home system. The ISP cannot explain it, they tell me that there is nothing wrong with their server, I have no problem with any other web site that I am aware of, anyone have any thoughts on wher the blockage may lie? 37043 2002-02-25 18:55:00 Only thing I can think of is either:

- your isp is blocking the competition.

- the homepage link includes your old username which no longer exists? Have you tried typing it in rather than using an old shortcut?

37044 2002-02-26 12:24:00 Thanks for the comments. Unfortunately the problems started BEFORE I switched ISP's so I don't believe the issue lies here. I have tried typing the URL address in directly with the same result, I can access 'background' pages behind the main web page by typing in the full address but just cannot get to the front 'Home' page. Frankly I am stumped, I wonder if there might be some blockage due to a registry entry as a result of deleting or adding programs / files but don't know if this makes sense. Guest (0)
37045 2002-02-28 04:22:00 I have an idea that there may be a 'hosts' type of file containing a wrong IP address of that site. If your system 'knows' an IP address, it will not ask a nameserver for it. If the IP address is wrong, you can't get there.

Do an OS search for any file 'containing' the URL.

It must be something simple like that. The very worst kind.

37046 2002-03-04 01:08:00 I too have the same problem with an address I try to access from ie. Hwever i can get it np from ns and opera?

It is strange as i can access every other part of the website fine, the web site is http://www.star-fury.com
and the page i cannot get is www.star-fury.com

It is very strange as i dont get an error message, the page just loads forever and then i get the site cant be found message.

37047 2002-03-04 12:09:00 Thanks Graham for the suggestion, unfortunately I cannot find any files either named or containing 'icenet.com.au'. I suspect that you are right in saying that it probably something simple, I don't have any firewall or blocking software active that I am aware of at the moment though. I remain stumped! Guest (0)
