37023 2002-02-25 09:00:00 4 or 5 hrs ago, I decided W2k was running so well, after 4mths trial. That I would get rid of dual boot with Win98.

I hit the format button in Win98 partition. Poof she was gone, good.

Then booted up with Partition Magic 6.0, and proceeded to move all of that lovely free space to the W2k partition, no problem, 2 hrs latter rebooted and Wallaah! Non system disk, please insert system disk. ****, don't panic think this through.

Tried Fdisk to make partition active, tried repair MBR, tried everything I could think of.

To cut a long story short, I made an active primary partition again with Partition Magic (C), and reinstalled W2k on it.

That's how I got here. I can see and access all of my old W2k and folders in (D). But I really want to boot into that setup, to many links, updates, emails, favorites etc. to give up on easily.

When I boot up I have the choice of W2k (c) new setup or unspecified system (d). Second choice goes nowhere.

How do I make the old W2k bootable again?

Thanks KO.

37024 2002-02-25 10:48:00 If you installed w2k after w98, and w98 was on the active partition w2k would have installed its boot files onto the w98 partition. If you copy over NTDetect.COM and NTLDR over to the old w2k drive it may fix your problem. You may also have to edit boot.ini.. Guest (0)
37025 2002-02-25 23:09:00 Thanks for the answer David, I couldn't get that to work, but it triggered some dead brain cells, and am now working on the problem.

Cheers KO.
