36996 2002-02-25 08:08:00 Can anyone tell me, how good is this invircible virus defence system that never needs updating, but works by picking up virus-like activity on your computer? I've recently heard that some viruses do get through! Guest (0)
36997 2002-02-25 19:41:00 No first hand experience of Invircible, BUT, it has had VERY VERY bad reviews over the years, all hotly denied by the suppliers. Cant give you chapter and verse on the review references, but I believe it was also rubbished in PC World.
If you are going to spend money, then another product may be preferable.
I may be able to go back and find the PC World review, if so will give details.

36999 2002-02-25 22:38:00 A bit more info, quoting PC World, May 1998;
'However,after extensive testing NZ PC World reached the conclusion that Invircible is a poor anti-virus program that doesn't work as advertised and offers substandard protection against viruses. We advise readers to avoid it.'

The test results showed such a low virus detection rate that even if it has improved by 100% since 1998, it would still be pretty useless.
Best avoid it as recommended.

37000 2002-02-25 23:54:00 That sounds like Surf n Guard pro

I got that a while ago from www.finjan.com It's saved me from some pretty ugly near misses. It is recommended that Surf n Guard pro is run alongside a AV programme and used to catch what leaks through

37002 2002-04-04 01:42:00 InVircible is the best Generic virus defence product around and uses file interrogation methods to check file integrity before allowing it to open on a system. It is totally non signature file dependant and is not scanning based. It requires updateing maybe once a week and is only 3mb in size and not 17mb as some of the other scanning based products are.
