37309 2002-02-27 09:05:00 On starting up Windows 98SE I get the error message 'cfjcwki.exe file is missing'. Does anyone know what this file is and how I can restore it. I think it was deleted by my anti-virus software because it allegedly contained a trojan horse. Also since then windows will freeze on shutdown and not shut down until at least one blue screen, scandisk etc & restart. Any help with this would be appreciated. Guest (0)
37310 2002-02-27 10:25:00 Sounds like one of the W32mgstr.... viruses.
Click start, Run and type system.ini. (or find it using normal methods) look for the line starting
Shell =Explorer.exe
If the cfjcwki.exe entry follows explorer.exe this is the trouble. Delete it. Pay to search the registry and look for it in there as well.

37311 2002-03-18 09:25:00 Thanks Don. I tried it and got rid of the startup warning but still having problems with Windows stalling on shut down. I guess I'll just have to work thru some of the issues talked about on the Microsoft site. Guest (0)
