| 37248 | 2002-02-27 03:03:00 | Installed XP Professional but it states no soundcard exists. Troubleshooter queries no help. BXPRO board circa 1999). Downloaded an (the) XP driver from PCChips site but cannot locate Internet Downloads under XP. Since installing XP internet connect speed dropped from 49.3 to around 42-44bps. |

One way to get around it is to use Win 2000 sound driver (as is recommended by some Card sites when having compatability issues with XP to use Win 2000), granted new XP drivers are starting to pop up now from most manufactures sites, so keep tabs on your cards web site. As for the net, do you have XP's auto updates switched on? This is normally indicated when you have the net running in the task bar with a small XP icon, basically your computer hooks up with Microsofts update site and downloads patches and the likes to keep your version of XP & IE6 up to date. You can right click on it when on the net and pause any downloads. But depending on the level of downloads they can range from a few K's to a couple of Meg. Hope I've helped with at least some of it or given you a few ideas. Cheers, Daniel |

My brother in laws ForteMedia card wasn't picked up aqnd there were no XP drivers for it...but the Win2000 drivers worked just fine. My SB Audigy isn't pickled up either until I install the software from the CD that came with it. |
