I get rather bugged by these things which are a nuisance. I know there is plenty of software to block them, but Iam more concerned with how they actually operate. How (that is, what are the mechanics of the process?) does anyone open a window on my computer without me wanting it? Does this mean I have some security flaw that I should be attending to? |

Sites use Javascript to create pop up windows. Javascript is programming language designed for use with web applets and is part of most browsers. These filter programs act as a proxy server and intercept all calls to create a new window.
In IE it can be disabled by going to tools, internet options, security, custom level, and setting the option for scripting of java applets to disable or prompt. |
