37319 2002-02-27 09:18:00 Since one is supposed to keep one's drivers up to date, I've had another go at finding out which driver to download to update my modem.

According to my system information the modem is a Dynalink 56000 Modem, VoiceCard 56 Pro V1456VQH-R, dated 11-11-1997.

I've been to the Dynalink Downloads page at www.dynalink.com but once I click on the Modem V1456VQH option I'm lost, especially since there is a Drivers option and a Firmware upgrades option.

Would any geeks like to have a look and advise me on what to do next?

37320 2002-02-27 09:43:00 Had a look at the site and there doesn't appear to be anything for you. The drivers option are the windows drivers. The firmware option is for flashing the modem it self, something not to try unless you are confident. Guest (0)

Bob, there's a link for the instructions for installing your driver at the top of the downloads page. I've copied and pasted them here for you:

1.0. How to upgrade modem drivers

First, you'll need the new drivers for your modem. You can download them from our Download page. Once you have downloaded and extracted the driver files, do the following.

1. Click Start - Settings - Control Panel.

2. Double-click the System icon.

3. Click the Device Manager tab.

4. Double-click Modem.

5. Double-click the modem you wish to upgrade the drivers for.

6. Click the Driver tab.

7. Click Update Driver.

8. Click Next, Next.

9. Select Specify a location.

10. Click Browse to the location you extracted the driver files to.

11. Click OK once you have selected the driver directory.

12. Click Next, then continue to follow the on-screen prompts as Windows finishes the driver upgrade.

Note that you might be told that there is another hardware upgrade necessary. If so, just repeat the above again.

Also, my modem name got changed and I had to go into Dial Up properties and change my ISP connections to the 'new' modem. Have yet to see if there is an improvement.

Good luck!
