37554 2002-03-01 09:33:00 hey guys,
look look robo i bought the mag! (no i'm not a sad one who reads allll the articles online and neglects to buy the mag!) Well anywho, thought it may be time to update Direct X (to 8.1), got into setup and then I was told that my OS was too old, yes its granted i'm usin Windows 95, but on the CD it said that it was compatiable for 95... any thoughts on that one, its no biggie i was just dissapointed, its a big rejection...from my computer of all things...

Tonies

PS: Still a bucking great mag tho i must say. I love all the images and piccies, they are brill.

37555 2002-03-01 09:54:00 Pleased to hear you bought one, Tonies.

I even have a poster of the Feb issue on my wall, I like the Stormtrooper. It's the first poster I have ever had.

Shame about Direct X, but you have to understand that Win95 is nearly seven years old now (came out in August if I remember rightly). It is getting on a bit, you have to admit. Pretty sure the same thing happened to me a while back.

Grab an upgrade to Win98 from a friend (you can't buy it any more, I don't think, if I am wrong then go buy it (don't want to upset William and friends)).

98 is way better than any other version, I reckon, and can run on slowish machines.

Have wondered how many visitors here actually buy and/or read the mag. Would be interesting to see.

robo.

37556 2002-03-01 10:10:00 I buy every issue of the Internet Mag - this is how I found this site.

I am pretty pathetic, I pour over the pages, using a highlighter pen to mark all the interesting websites I want to check out.

I have learnt so much from your magazine and from reading the posts on this site (I might even graduate from newbie one day!!)

37557 2002-03-01 10:17:00 even if your os is 98 it proberly won't install as your hardware is to old. don't worry directX 8.1 wouldn't acctualy do anything more with your pc even if you did manage to install it.

upgrade time ?? ;-)

37558 2002-03-01 11:01:00 Actually Robo, you can still buy Win98 - saw it in a local shop the other day (I think it was Noel Leeming, but I could be wrong). Guest (0)
37559 2002-03-01 12:51:00 It's does work with some versions of Win95 your problem would be that you are running a version that it doesn't support.

There was about 6 or more versions of Win95. I think version 4.03.1214 was the latest that I know of. The original version is 4.00.950.

A service pack update should upgrade your OS.
