| 37483 | 2002-03-01 01:41:00 | Hi, i've just finished formating a computer and at the end it says. 'WARNING, Disk boot sector is to be modified. Type 'Y' to accept, and key to abort. Award Software Inc. ' I've run the format program off a floppy and have used format C: Everything seems to work, but when i go to install Windows (copying from the cdrom to C) when ever run setup and just after the licence agreement, it makes a beeping noise similar to what it makes when it is trying to modify the boot sector. The computer then restarts. I have tried Win95A, B and 98SE all with the same problem. I was wondering is there anyway to stop the award bios software from interfering with the windows install. Thanks |

Go into set up and find where it says Virus Warning or similar, probably in Advanced BIOS features, and disable it. Hopefully the Windows install will then proceed smoothly. That feature is preventing Windows writing to the boot sector or setting up a partition table on your hard drive. Cheers |
