37456 2002-02-28 21:15:00 I'm not sure if this can be done or not, although I've heard that it can be (but never seen it).

I can disable the right-click on webpages to stop people from viewing source, but is it possible to disable the Source command from the View menu in IE (and the corresponding command in other browsers)?

Thanks!

37459 2002-02-28 22:28:00 Susan - go to the following address where you'll find a pre-written script. It can be done in two ways - either with javascript or dhtml. Bare in mind however that a savvy surfer knows how to overcome the restriction, so it's not infallible.

37461 2002-02-28 22:50:00 Making the site in Flash is a good way. Not many people are flash gurus and wouldn't know how to get information from Flash. Guest (0)
37462 2002-02-28 23:01:00 Other ideas if Flash isn't an option is adding a lot of space at the top so when they view source it seems empty. Doesn't trick HTML gurus but maybe people who do steal HTML if they are not sure on how to do it.

Also loading the HTML from another page would is a good too. You could add extra lines just to confuse where the actual page is coming from.

And another idea that just hit me. Encoding. You can get tools that encode your HTML so it seems gibberish to every HTML guru. It's encoded not encrypted so it'll still be valid to use on webpages. Only problem is if someone knows how to decode it. But then it would be really important if they needed to do that.

37463 2002-03-01 07:54:00 Hi,
For sure in Opera and also I believe in IE, right-click on the particular frame, and from the pop-up menu select Frame and then View Source.
