37382 2002-02-28 04:25:00 I have installed windows 95 on a 486dx 100 computer. Windows will not start except in safe mode. At times after starting it gives the message that it is now safe to turn your computer off. I have 16meg of ram and a 4.3gb hard drive, also the mouse is not working. Can anybody out there help please.
Thanks George

37383 2002-02-28 05:40:00 It might pay to go into the bios, and set it to default settings for starters.

Did the mouse work during setup? Is it serial or PS2?

Try running setup again, over top of whats there, 2nd time around might pickup what it missed the first time.

Could be some serious IRQ clashing.

Take out the modem and soundcard before setup, and install them latter, just some ideas.

37384 2002-02-28 05:53:00 It might pay to add some wait states in the BIOS setup for your memory. What speed is you memory? A DX4-100 would probably really need 60nS SIMMS. Guest (0)
