37648 2002-03-03 01:47:00 The February PC World failed to give instructions on how to stop error reporting in Windows XP.

In WinXP, if a program or Windows crashes, XP compiles an error report to send to Microsoft. PC World pointed out that it can contain file names and paths to things you don't want everyone to be known. When the program crashes, XP will ask if you want to send the report or not. You can see what is in the report if you want.

You can click 'Don't Send', but if you totally do not want this feature, then click Start, right-click 'My Computer', and click Properties. Click the Advanced tab, and at the bottom click the 'Error Reporting' button. Click the 'Disable Error Reporting' radio button, and if you want, check the box 'But notify me when critical errors occur'.

If you would like to report errors in certain programs, then under the 'Enable Error Reporting' radio button, click the 'Choose Programs' button to select which programs can have the error reporting function availible when it crashes.
