| 37601 | 2002-03-01 21:34:00 | Some websites have ads etc flicking on and off, presumably to attract more attention. I don't usually mind sensible ads, but when they take up a significant part of the screen and are excessively obtrusive it can get a bit much. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best blocking software? | Guest (0) | ||

Second, there are 'Flash' animations. The way to identify these is to right-mouse-click in the area that's animated and there might be options like 'Play' and 'Loop'. If these are the problem, I can give you step by step instructions on how to remove Flash (post back if you want them). Lastly is the issue of banner ads, on which I won't offer an opinion - I'm sure you'll get plenty of recommendations from others. To my mind, this would be the last option because any blocking software will have to run all the time and so will take up memory and processor resource. Cheers John |
