37709 2002-03-03 05:53:00 I'd like to find a basic 3d renderer on the net that i could use to build a few basic models with. eg, school classroom block etc. does anyone know of such a program for absolute beginers? Guest (0)

37711 2002-03-03 11:45:00 Yeah, same here - I've only managed to find linux ones, and they are devilishy hard to use (even if you can install them!!)

I did once track down a thing called Crystal Space 3D...

Don't get that, it was useless, and it didn't do half of what it said it could, and I could find no way of entering my own data...

Ten Points to anyone who can find a good one!

37712 2002-03-04 03:22:00 Try PovRay -- a freeware raytracer --- not for real beginners, but I don't think that there is any easy way to do rendering. That's at www.povray.org/ .

There are a few small ones at the Simtel site ... in the msdos/graphics/ directory. rash386.zip, 3denvmap.zip *might* be good ones to start with. They are all small --- so you could download a lot of them and have a look. (most of these .zip files have a .diz file which is a short description of the programme. Documentation files with the .doc extension are NOT Word files -- they are plain text.)

You should check out www.righthemisphere.com
Deep Exploration has a built in Ray trace rendered as is a seasy top use as clicking a button. You can also download the Air Renderer plug-in available on the same page.

All your options are on teh left hand navigation panel.
In case you didn't know Right Hemisphere is an Auckland based company that is kicking ass in the 3D world. If you want to know more you can contact me via e-mail scott@righthemisphere.com

Best of luck.
