| 37869 | 2002-03-04 10:28:00 | My floppy drive recently stopped reading disks. Instead, it comes up with a message like 'Disk in Drive A is not formatted. Would you like to format it now?'. Testing the disk in another computer confirms that the disk is ok. Saying 'Yes' to the question results in an error. Today I went and bought a new floppy drive, thinking that was the problem, but the problem stays the same. Any ideas? (Running XP) |

The way to tell if you've got it upside down is if the light is on all the time... Try the disk in another computer, try taking out the cable, and putting it back in. Process of elimination, try everything, even if it seems REALLY stupid. I had a system which didn't work if I had the HDD light plugged in... :) Erin |

Then I uninstalled the floppy drive and floppy drive controller, reinstalled it, and all was well! So now I've got a near-new floppy disk drive I don't want... |

(Thanks to those guys!)Fortunately my floppy drive worked perfectly the next day and I haven't yet got around to opening up the box to check dust possibility. | Guest (0) | ||
