| 37733 | 2002-03-03 11:43:00 | whenever i do a thorough scandisk or defrag my computer it keeps on restarting at the beginning.How do i get it to do its work properly? Thanks |

AS the computer boots up, start pressing f8 and when given the options to pick from choose Safe Mode and then run scandisk and defrag as normal, at the end reboot the computer to get back into normal windows mode. The most likely reason for restarting all the time will be one or more programs running in the background. |

| 37736 | 2002-03-03 19:06:00 | Click on 'start' select 'Run' type in msconfig and press enter. Click on 'startup' and take the ticks out of all the boxes and then click apply. This will stop all the programs running in the background and should also speed up your computer. | Guest (0) | ||
| 37737 | 2002-03-04 04:33:00 | uhhh.. I wouldn't remove ALL the items from the 'startup' tab in msconfig as some of them are needed by Windows/other apps. It's much much better if you follow the instructions to go into Safe-mode. You'll probably be amazed by how much faster the scandisk and defrag work. |
