| 37924 | 2002-03-05 08:48:00 | I'm having a similar problem Jeff. My dial up connection gets through, only to disconnect seconds later. If I connect to my home page rather than Outlook Express, it often connects first time. Quite frustrating and neither of the ISPs I have used has an answer for it. I'm running XP Home on an Athlon 1600. | Guest (0) | ||

| 37927 | 2002-03-06 08:36:00 | Hi Jeff and Faye, forgive me if this is too simple a suggestion but have you got 'disconnect after send or receive' set in OE? The first thing OE does when it loads is check for incoming or outgoing mail and even if there is none when it has checked if this option is set it will disconnect from your ISP. This may take only a few seconds. If you load IE first and then click 'check for mail', OE will load, check, and again, if the option is set, it will disconnect. Of course I may be miles off target because I don't use XP or IE6/OE6 but thats how it behaves in 98 IE5.5/OE5.5. HTH PC |

| 37928 | 2002-03-07 05:10:00 | Thanks for that Peter, but the answer (for me anyway) is no. And the problem is still occuring sporadically when I connect straight to my home page. Once I've connected and clicked on OE, everything is fine, it receives mail and doesn't disconnect so I'm still at a loss to know what is causing it! Sometimes it does this four or five times and I get a wee tad annoyed and go away for a while! Paradise don't seem to have an answer - anybody else? | Guest (0) | ||
