38194 2002-03-07 05:36:00 Hi,

Graham, the board in question is an Adaptec 2740, I also have an Adaptec 1510A which I could chuck in if you think it'd make things simpler...

To all the other chaps, I've got a Unisys SVE66 pentium 66 server, with FreeBSD on a 2GB SCSI HDD with an Adaptec 2740 Controller card. The mission objective is to get something less cryptic onto the HDD, Mandrake 8.1, (which I've just bought for my other machine), or win95.

Perhaps (just a slight maybe) put both on it.

The question is, how?

In BIOS the drives are recorded as being not installed, except for the floppy.

If I boot BSD, it goes fine. If I try to do a low level format in the setup utilities for the Adaptec board, it says it times out.'

Windows Boot floppies don't recognise it... The Readme for installing mandrake on the CD points me to an Autoboot.bat file in a folder that doesn't exist.

I could create a mandrake install floppy by sticking some file from the CD onto a floppy... Shall I give that a go?

Thanks,

Erin
