38195 2002-03-07 04:52:00 People,
Is there a way to send messages over a LAN between and to different computers. I vaguely remember something call 'WIN Popup' All PCs on the LAN are using WIN98 and have seperate TCPIP adresses.
Any ideas anybody.

Cheers

38196 2002-03-07 06:06:00 Hi,

There sure is... You can do it with the 'run' command under your start menu.

The line to use is something like:

net name-of-recipient-computer Stick-your-message-in-here

Give that a go, maybe someone else can fill me in here, I can't remember exactly how it is done...

Otherwise do a search on the net. Someone else out there will know how to do this, and in a moment of boredom, put the details on a webpage.

Alternatively you might find that there is a piece of software out there that will do it for you.

:)

38197 2002-03-07 06:27:00 Winpopup.exe is found in the windows directory. You can start it up by using run and typing winpopup.

They have to be running Winpopup to recieve messages though.

38198 2002-03-07 08:05:00 i don't know if this would work but at school we sometimes use a program called 'ah googie'(something like that I can never remeber how to spell it)the school is using nt but i think u can get it for 95 it makes error messages type things popup, i dont know if that is wat ur after but its still good to scare novices with false error messages Guest (0)

I've had a quick play and this seems to do the trick.
I put WINPOPUP in the startup on all PCs on my network and this is a go

Thanks KJH
