38157 2002-03-06 11:24:00 Here it is:

Unable to run the command specifie. The file or directory:

File:/Pcworld/pcwpressf1.nsf/response!OpenForm&ParentUNID=9F5844AE2B420A39CC256B7400292B49&SEQ=1

does not exist.

Well, that looks pretty uselss to me, but maybe you can get a web geek onto it. Quite probably just a problem with my browser, but it's only ever happened on this website, so maybe there's something in it...

It happened while I was trying to reply to Robo's SPCA post, at 11:22pm according to the computers system time.

Hope that helps

:)

38158 2002-03-06 11:38:00 Could it be a Linux specific problem.

38159 2002-03-06 12:31:00 Could be a small server problem but it worked fine when I tested that link out.

Could also be your side too. How to fix it? I am uncertain guess will have to see if we can get more information.

Here's the link it's too

38160 2002-03-07 02:06:00 It's not a Linux thing. It's a 'realtime software' thing. The rule which applies without execption in realtime programming is: 'The less the statistical probability that an error will occur, the nearer to certainty it WILL occur'.

Of course it happens 'only on this site' ... the URL contains 'pcwpressf1.nsf/response!' . The page which does not exist is a form made up in real time from the database. In your case it was not made up!.

Yesterday, one thread: 'Are BIOS upgrades free?' gave me only a few of an error message from the proxy server at this end, saying that the page might be out-of-date. It wasn't there again today.
These things happen.

How's your Unisys/FreeBSD server, Erin?

38161 2002-03-07 04:52:00 Hi,

Well, I've honestly no idea what's causing the error, but Robo may be able get it fixed, if not, I'm not over-flustered about it, it only happens about once or twice a month anyway...

The FreeBSD server? I want to put win95 or Mandrake on it, BSD is way too cryptic for me!

Trouble is, I can't format the hard drive, windows blatantly denies it's existence because it doesn't recognise it's format, and the configuration utility times out when I try to perform a low-level format.'

How can I wipe my SCSI drive?

:)
