| 38315 | 2004-02-29 20:40:00 | As I recall, I didn't have to do anything about the message in the end. The cause was a dead onboard NIC as I suspected, and after I installed a new card & loaded the drivers, when that message came up again it gave me the option to ignore it permanently. I did that and haven't seen it since. Memory being fallible, I may be wrong on the details but I do recall it was unexpectedly and easily fixed in the end by very simple means. Coincidentally a similar message popped up last week on that box which I also fixed be selecting an *ignore* type of option. It happened during the loss of net access in This Thread (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) and I had to remove an entry in the NIC section of Device Manager, then the option appeared after a reboot, I lucked the right choice and all was sweet.
