Therefore I hope one of you may be able to help me. As a restoration project I have been building a system out of various components. I have a MS-6117 motherboard once apon a time from a PC Direct 690. I have a Celeron 400 CPU to install in it. To operate I need to select a 6x multiplier. It currently has a PII 266 in it. The manual only lists multipliers up to 5x (66x5=333Mhz) The system has a BIOS update applied to it that supposedly supports up to Celeron 433. The blurb for the motherboard manual says it supports '6x and greater!!' (but with no help as to how). I would just put the thing in the slot and mess with the jumpers until I fluke it however it's in my dear old uncles house at the other end of the country. Just in case you're interested is what can be done with a 1997 computer, after adding the CPU it will be spec'ed as follows: *256MB RAM *32MB TNT2 Pro AGP Graphics *Aureal A3D 2.0 sound card *13GB ATA66 Harddrive *ATA66 Winfast PCI IDE Controller *42x CD ROM *Celeron 400 *Windows 2000 I'm sure it could go higher, but who's gonna waste money on brand new kit! :-) P.S I have e-mailed MSI Support with no response. :( Thank you for any assistance you may be able to provide. |
