38503 2002-03-09 21:01:00 Hi
recently we had an overseas student staying & unfortunately he picked up a virus which we cleared ok but it was from a porn site . However every time the PC starts up & we log onto the internet our normal homepage is xtra but it tries to load this soft porn site but comes up with unable to find this url or similar prob because we have wiped the other stuf from the hard drive but it keeps trying to load. I go into the tools area & preferences change homepage details each time to xtra home page which is fine until next time pc is switched on & try to log onto internet & either have to go to the xtra link i have to log on
where can i go to delete this start up address
i have tried to do a find under its title but cant & i alter the start up default each time but it doesnt seem to save the xtra site even tho i select apply
any sugestions please

38504 2002-03-10 01:52:00 Try the Spider program from here:

www.fsm.nl

It will delete your index.dat file and hidden urls that are being a nuisance.

Be warned though, even though it gives you the option to not delete your history, temporary internet files and cookies it does still delete them. That's not a big deal though, and you will find your browsing a bit quicker afterwards.

38505 2002-03-10 06:17:00 Thanks for the help however
I have downloaded the Spider program www.fsm.ul/ward and it revealed all past history but doesn't instruct how to delete and remove these items.
How can they be removed?
it seemed to clean up all my history & cooies which is fine but the unwanted url still tries to load
any other ideas
