| 38484 | 2002-03-09 20:41:00 | Hello all, I'm having a problem with the above network. The old ME server (which is now a workstation) was fine, and has a custom written database program on it. Now that we've moved one of the (3) new XP machines in as the server, all hell has broken lose. The database program which now resides on the XP server is working fine from all the workstations (there is client software installed on the WSs). But if I go into network neighborood, I can see the new server, but when double clicking on it I get the error 'device is not present on the system'. The is on one of the 98 machines and the old ME server. On the other 98 machine I can see the server no problem and can open it and install the printer from it. All the network settings between the 3 older machines are the same. I've tried uninstalling all networking protocols etc, and then reinstalling but no go. I've tried static and set IP addresses - no go. Any help on this would save many more grey hairs in coming days.... Cheers Fred Alvrez |
