38467 2002-03-09 17:42:00 My computer has just started showing the shortcut arrows in shortcut icons. I've got the box marked correctly in Tweak UI and also in Winboost 2000 Gold. It has always worked O.K. up till yetterday and I can't think what I've done to alter it. I can't get rid of the arrows. Guest (0)
38468 2002-03-09 19:45:00 There's a tiny program here that gets rid of those arrows, haven't tried it myself.

Except for a couple of DOS programs I use. Would you know why ?

38471 2002-03-10 08:27:00 Just curious. What is the difference whether there is an arrow or not. Some of mine have some haven't.

Is there an advantage of some sort in not having the arrows?

38472 2002-03-10 22:40:00 That's not really the issue and I think you know that.

The point is i have been using a program for about 5 years (Tweak UI) which has done what it was designed to do (in part) and removed the shortcut arrow from icons.

All of a sudden it has put them back.

Anyway, I have sourced the problem to the latest Windows Update. How I discovered that is where it has come from is from restoring a Ghost Image file I backup up on 27th February and when I rebooted the arrows were gone from the icons.

The first thing I did was go to the Windows Update site and download the updates.

That's when the arrows were put back. So I did a windows update on another machine and, sure enough, the same thing happened.

I have also checked with some friends who have noticed the same thing but didn't know what caused it.

I have phoned Microsoft (NZ) but they are not interested because they do not support Tweak UI.

I will post another message on this forum regarding the problem.
