1292987 2012-08-05 00:07:00 I am buying a new computer and advertised my old one on "Trade Me". Starting bid $3000. Result, not a single bid, not even a question. Seems buyers on TM are only interested in goods at a charity price.
What do you think is a realistic price for this?
Antec 1200 case
ASUS P6X58D Motherboard Board.
Intel 980x cpu
2 x 480 Gigabyte Vid cards in SLI
12 gigs ram
1200 PSU \
CVX Colossus SSD hard disk. Plus 3 TB's of almost new 720 disks. Not installed
Windows 7 64 bit. With disk
3 LCD Monitors. 26 22 and 19 inch
HP 1600 colour laserjet printer
G 15 keyboard, mouse and all cables
Buyer can even have my desk if they want it.

I'm selling everything because I'm buying a bigger desk and two 30" monitors
The SSD is partitioned into two drives, and is big enough for my needs

The computer is about a year old and has been overclocked to 4.2 since new. Runs at about 60 degrees. No problems.:clap

TradeMe is where you'll get the most for anything, the problem is your system probably isn't worth 3k.

For the CPU you'll get <$500, $350-$450 for the GPU's (each), $100 for the case? (cases can be a ***** to sell), $150-$200 for the psu on trademe, if there's 3x 1 tb hdd's you'll get 80 for each hdd, Depending on the size of the ssd you might get $100-$150, keyboard is worth like $40, motherboard isn't worth very much purely because no one uses the 1366 platform, ram is ram so unless it's running at a high speed im going to say $120 (10*12) depends largely on how many sticks there are (2*4gb is worth a lot less than say 1*8gb), probably won't get anything for the printer, the bigger screen is probably the only one worth anything won't get much for a 19" also it depends on what the resolution of the 26" and 22"

You're probably looking at closer to 2k without the screens.

What has the desk to do with PC components.....I remember about two upgrades ago you said it was the last.

Change your monitors, why the entire thing?

1292990 2012-08-05 01:42:00 If I had 3 grand to spend on a PC I'd buy a new one.... Metla (12)
1292991 2012-08-05 03:49:00 The vast bulk of Tradme buyers are looking for low price, and those looking for a bitchin' gaming rig would likely look elsewhere and buy new kit.

Being USED it is only going to appeal to budget shoppers at a budget price, so the 3 screens are a deterrent, as are the 2 GPUs, abundant HDDs, and the crazy 12GB of RAM.

You'd have better luck if you stripped it down to a mid spec gaming rig, and sold the other bits individually, or if you built another box from all the extra bits.

My present desk will not accomodate 2 x 30" monitors

My last? I'm still alive and I still want the fastest.

May only be a year old but it will devalue a lot over that time.

If a CPU that cost $1600 a year ago is only worth a third of the price I will not be selling it. I'll modify it with a hammer and dump it. Same for the whole computer.I will not take less than $3500. And that's less than half of what it cost me.

1292996 2012-08-05 04:38:00 advertised my old one on "Trade Me". Starting bid $3000. Result, not a single bid, not even a question. Right away then that indicates the asking price is to much for what possible buyers are willing to pay.

I will not take less than $3500. And that's less than half of what it cost me. A year ago that may have been a reasonable price, but with hardware improving in spec's, and being a year old, you'll only get what someone is willing to pay for it. Being a custom PC with all the bells and whistles would only be of interest to certain people.

Better to strip it and sell as a lower spec and sell off the other components separate.
