| 1292740 | 2012-08-04 07:13:00 | Hey, I need to add a manual DNS entry (split DNS kinda setup) to an Orcon Genius router (www.orcon.net.nz) but can't find where to do this. I was thinking it might be through the CLI but the web interface login doesn't seem to work via telnet. So my questions are: 1. Does anyone know if you can add a static DNS entry via the web interface? 2. How to login via telnet? I have not called Orcon yet and hoping I won't need to :) Editing the hosts file for each PC is one option but need it on smart phones too. Cheers for any help. |

DNS setting are under the Advanced Settings tab, then second box down on the left. I found Firefox didn't work properly, but Internet Explorer was ok Edit: you can put in the DNS's of your choice |

Too locked down for me, so I'm no longer using my one (The helpdesk called it something along the names of a 'manual username override'), but basically you can try adding that in via a static DHCP lease for it to give out. Otherwise, you're probably fresh outta luck. That said you *could* call Orcon and see if they're able to remotely provision that for you, I don't believe the normal helpdesk guys can do much but I know that they can remotely provision almost everything to do with that router .... |

| 1292747 | 2012-09-02 23:24:00 | The iinet manual doesn't seem to have any information about telnet/dns but all the Australian forums talk about SSHing into it, although this seems to have been blocked with the Orcon firmware. | WarNox (8772) | ||
| 1292748 | 2012-09-03 02:13:00 | Yeah they've heavily customized it locally. Ring through, tell them what you want, they'll go find some 2nd level guy who can either do it for you or who can give you access / details to do-so. |
