2012-08-04 02:24:00 | This will be my first time building a PC. I think i've got everything sussed but I just wanted to make sure that everything will be compatible with eachother and whether or not I could find a better deal. Currently i'm buying everything from ComputerLounge as they are consistently cheap and seem to have pretty good reviews. Anyway here is my build, this will mainly be used for gaming. Sapphire AMD Radeon HD7850 2GB GDDR5 PCI-E3.0 (11200-00-20G) $379.00 NZXT Phantom 410 Crafted Mid Tower Chassis Black $208.95 ME5 Gen3 i5K P8Z77-M Pro Combo: 1 x Intel Core i5 3570K Ivy Bridge 3.40Ghz 6MB 95W LGA1155 1 x Mushkin Blackline FrostByte 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1600 CL9 (996995) 1 x ASUS P8Z77-M Pro Intel Z77 DDR3 SLI+Crossfire PCI-E3.0 LGA1155 $649.00 Seasonic X-Series 560W 80Plus Gold Power Supply $219.00 ASUS DRW-24B3ST 24X DVD Writer SATA $44.95 ASUS VE228H 21.5" 5ms, HDMI, Built-in Speaker, LED Monitor $228.95 Microsoft Sidewinder X4 Gaming Keyboard (JQD-00016) $55.00 Total: $1,784.84 Is this a good build for gaming ? Anything I could better with a small cost ? Thanks in advance

I would drop that down to the non unlocked version, because you can still overclock later, albeit using a slightly more complex process. edit2- don't forget to factor in the cost of an operating system. |

2012-08-04 03:49:00 | Pretty expensive mother board. You might want to check this out www.computerlounge.co.nz for a few ideas on what to get. You can also get a Corsair 650 watt psu for $160. :)

2012-08-04 04:20:00 | I'm with the comments above regarding graphics (sapphire) and I think you are selling yourself short with only a 560W power supply and would look at at least 600W or 650W (Trevs suggestion) . | Iantech (16386) | |
2012-08-04 04:30:00 | Thanks for the advice and the quick response! I did a little more research on the 7850, the sapphire card is slightly faster than an asus, but the asus has better cooling and 1 year longer warranty than sapphire. Other than that the cards are more or less the same. Considering the asus 7850 is $30 i think i'll stick to the sapphire. I also compared it to the nvidia 560Ti and 570 cards, the 7850 seems to be better than 560ti and much cheaper than the 570. I don't think i'll be overclocking so i did go for the non unlocked version combo for $10 cheaper but with a better motherboard (I think) 1 x Intel Core i5 3570 Ivy Bridge 3.40 GHz 6MB 77W LGA1155 1 x Mushkin Blackline FrostByte 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1600 CL9 (996995) 1 x ASUS P8Z77-V LK Intel Z77 DDR3 SLI+Crossfire PCI-E3.0 LGA1155 Is the V-LK better than the M-Pro motherboard ? I can't really find a comparison on google. I already have a windows 7 cd. Also, is 560W PSU enough ? And is there anywhere i could get cheaper but similar quality monitor ? Edit: Woops, didn't refresh to see the 2 new posts. I'm amazed at how fast the replies come in.

2012-08-04 05:01:00 | Pretty expensive mother board. You might want to check this out www.computerlounge.co.nz for a few ideas on what to get. You can also get a Corsair 650 watt psu for $160. :) hmm, ok so for $80 cheaper i can get the ASUS P8H77-I Intel H77 Mini ITX combo (same ram and cpu). Will this affect the system much, in particular, for gaming? I looked on pricespy to find the $160 Corsair 650 W PSU but couldn't see it. My friend told me adamantly to get a gold rated PSU. I am keen to save on power and efficiency but not if it's overly expensive. But i definitely will increase to 600+ W. Regarding the sapphire graphics card gain, is it worth the extra $30 just to go with an asus hd7850?

2012-08-04 05:03:00 | I have a sapphire 7850, no problems with it. Some people have complained about the fans being a bit noisy but I haven't personally had any problems. | icow (15313) | |
