1268559 2012-04-06 00:06:00 I bought a veon blu ray player from the warehouse on sale from $200 to $99 so far i am very impressed by the clarity of both sound and picture on cds and dvds not bad for a brand ive never heard of before. Im just blown away how normal dvds look so much clearer even in a blu ray player technology now days is just awesome loving it alot.
Anybody else bought a veon and having a good run with it.:)

1268560 2012-04-06 02:52:00 I wish you luck. I bought a cheapie DVD player from the Warehouse many years ago, and it's the biggest piece of excrement ever.
It can't reliably read a burnt disc (only pressed discs), and I have to hold the disc tray in the open position when changing discs, coz it tries to close the tray as soon as it's opened.

Going to denser media like a Blu Ray will only further highlight any failings in the electro / optical / mechanical inner workings. I won't ever again use a budget Warehouse brand.

Hope you have better luck.

My DSE DVD player (also few years old, and also rather cheap) sometimes does that too.

I looked inside the other day and noticed a lot of brown glue on the plugs for the wiring that drives the tray and laser mechanisms etc.

I have heard that this glue can go conductive over time. I wonder if that could be part of the problem - but haven't tried removing it yet since the problem only happens sometimes.

1268564 2012-04-07 21:25:00 With cheap Blu-Ray players you just get the basics. No USB port no internet connection which allows you to update the firmware and also download and view extra content that some Blu-Ray disks have etc etc.

1268567 2012-04-07 22:35:00 Have put it through it's paces and it's mind blowing as to the clarity of picture and sound not bad for a $200 job reduced down to $100 for the weekend and a 2 year warranty. Hitech (9024)
