1268265 2012-04-03 23:43:00 I can play and copy (first stage) but when I put a blank DL in I get a no disk present message.
Tried a couple of different makes but same result.
Any thoughts on trouble shooting this problem?

1268266 2012-04-04 00:01:00 What model player/recorder do you have? Zippity (58)
1268267 2012-04-04 00:09:00 I mainly use an external Iomega Super DVD.
I have successfully burned DL DVDs on it, even using blanks from the same batch as the ones that now don't register.

1268268 2012-04-04 00:32:00 What is complaining there is nothing in it? Windows, or your burning program?

Sometimes I've had Windows think there was nothing there but ImgBurn etc could still write just fine.

1268269 2012-04-04 00:44:00 When did you last run a lens cleaning disc through the writer? Zippity (58)
1268270 2012-04-04 01:49:00 Windows says no disc
AnyDVD says ditto
Ashampoo Burning Studio ditto

But all 3 recognize a commercial recorded DL DVD!!!!!!

I put a lens cleaning disc through yesterday.

1268271 2012-04-04 03:18:00 Something to try -- Since its an external Drive, attach it to another computer, see if it has the same problem. If it does then the Drive has a fault someplace, if it works OK on another computer then the OS has a problem.

You have to determine where the fault actually is - the External Drive or the computer, other wise you are only guessing.
