| 1268157 | 2012-04-03 23:55:00 | I really don't get why people still claim their prices are poor. Let's use an example - Telecom Total Home. $105/month. Currently 20GB, soon to be 40GB. Unlimited national calls to landlines, up to 2 hrs per call. What do, say, Orcon have similar? 15GB, and unlimited national calls to landlines, up to 1hr per call, for $100, or $110 for 25GB. So currently, they're pretty on-par. After the data rollover for Telecom, it'll be comparable to either $120/month for 35GB or $130/month for 45GB with Orcon. Still for $105. Even if you tack on the living-in-the-middle-of-nowhere fee of $10, making it $115, the Telecom package still presents better value. Even itnernational calling - Telecom is $2/2hr to Aus, Orcon is $3.95/hr. Orcon 43c/min to mobiles, Telecom 38c/min (30c to Telecom mobiles). Or if I use my own situation, paying $125/month currently with Telecom for landline and 80GB broadband. For the same price with Orcon, I'd get only 55GB. Soon I'll get 160GB on my current plan, and the closest I could get to that with Orcon is $235/month for 205GB (or, far lower, $155/month for 105GB). Either way I look at it, for mid- and higher-use customers, Telecom are certainly competitive, if not better value depending on your specific requirements. Only their very basic plans are a let-down atm, but once it bumps up to 5GB for the same $75, it'll be in the ballpark. |
