I assume you're talking about "Tea kow wot ar"?

If yours is the appropriate Te Reo pronunciation, I have no truck with that. It is the original name, it is the original pronunciation.

Who the hell are we to introduce sloppy pakeha shortcuts?

But I don't go along with the pretentious delivery our news readers affect.

I would assume that saying something correctly is polite, not an overdose of politically correct.

Over in hicksville you'd be zye pie tee

Because its a dead (and horrible) language that is being re-imagined by academics, At our expense.

The only place it has a place is in tourism, and tourism has next to nothing to do with selling anything real.

Perhaps they should have written it down themselves then?

Oh wait.

1268010 2012-04-02 20:55:00 What annoys me is it seems to keep changing, the vowel sounds I was taught in school seem to bear no relation to how words are pronounced now. Add to that there used to be regional variations so who decides which is right?

So If I get lazy and say tekawatta it's because I've given up trying to keep up with the current Idea of pronunciation, well and because it's easier to wrap my mouth around.
