2012-08-06 08:23:00 | Cant remember the exact spec's of the PC but I do know they are not high,I do know there was an additional 1GB of memory installed in Sep 2009. Sometimes vista can do strange things and cause odd problems to other software. Something to try may or may not help. 1. Open the NOD32 window. 2. Press F5. 3. Click and expand "computer" Look for Real-Time File System Protection - High light it ( dont expand it). 4. Under Scan on ( its on the right), un-tick the following check boxes: * File Open * File Creation * Diskette Access. Save/OK, reboot see what happens. Dont open anything, see what the memory does after its fully booted/settled down. Sometimes if to many things are open, it will load the memory, as Nod is doing whats its told to do. "if" the usage doesn't climb, then Real time protection is partly disabled. The usual reason the usage is high is because Nod is scanning/monitoring something running in the background. What that may be could be anything. One other thing - are you using the inbuilt firewall or installed some other software ?

2012-08-06 09:27:00 | Have done that, results after reboot at 7.38pm only resource manager open Memory Commit (KB) Used Physical Memory 7.38pm 78858 56% 7.42pm 81868 42% 7.43pm 82816 40% 7.47pm 85084 34% 8.01pm 94376 35% So in 22 mins a difference of 15518/2 equals 7759 in 11 mins, same as before. Only thing I can see difference is no hardfaults/min for ekrn being read Is now up to 105356 at 39% once I opened word Firewall is the Windows one that is installed with Vista Shall I re tick the 3 NOD things back again under Real-Time File System Protection

2012-08-06 10:56:00 | Yep, retick them if there is nothing noticeable in usage. Just checked 4 different PC's here and Nod is using in round figures 85000 - 98000K ( 98K thats on my sons who is playing online games and giving it hell) so yours at 94376 doesn't look out of place. All the PC's here have 4+ GB of memory. Your PC being a 32bit OS can only take 3GB max, so the % will be relevant to total amount of installed memory.

2012-08-06 12:13:00 | If it stayed at 98k that would be okay, but it increased to 105k in 1 hour from reboot its now at 221k approx 3 1/2 from reboot. I'll see what it is in morning.

2012-08-07 02:14:00 | I have spoken to Eset, and they want to sort out or at least see whats causing the problem. But you need to do a couple of things. nod32 does have this program installed, but this is an easier way - Go to kb.eset.com Download and run SysInspector, do what that web site instructs then Email me the log it creates. You know my email address, and I have the contact in Eset to send it to, it will make a very detailed analyse of your computer, every single running and installed file and they will see whats causing the problem and advise me. I can then post back here.

2012-08-07 04:16:00 | Add to above - Or watch the Video on the site, thats another way to do it without downloading the stand alone program. Same thing though I need the zipped log file to send. | wainuitech (129) | |
2012-08-07 07:07:00 | Thanks Sorry been called away today, will do tomorrow. Never sent/done a log before. Will watch video first NB there are a few threads on the Eset Wilderssecurity com forum with a few others having similar problems on version 5.2. I couldn't see any solutions though

2012-08-07 07:32:00 | The log it produces is VERY detailed, you have to know how to read it to figure out whats what. It lists every thing on the PC, and I mean Everything, every .dll file and every other type of file/process etc, (and more than likely what you had for dinner last night if you were eating at the pc ) ;) -- they know what they are looking for. | wainuitech (129) | |
2012-08-07 11:12:00 | EVERYTHING.!!!. The mind boggles. I don't even know what a dll file is. As for last nights dinner, that would be good cause I can't remember. | ktee (5538) | |
