1268942 2012-04-09 21:38:00 It looks like we have achieved the zero Easter road toll. Read here (www.stuff.co.nz).

As of 1pm yesterday, accidents overall had dropped to 455 from 517 for the same period last year.

It appears that there were accidents over the Easter break but fortunately none of these were fatal.

More likely to die from carbon monoxide poisoning I think.

1268947 2012-04-10 05:12:00 Like on tv all these lying clowns saying they weren't going on holiday because of the price of gas.
And the roads are like totally jammed.
The more jammed the roads the slower the speed, slower the speed the smaller the crash.
My hat goes out to the feld polizei for all their work in reducing the road toll.

They are good at collecting fines for doing 106, yes brilliant job indeed.

Ref. post 3 for the facts.

I dare to disagree. I think people are generally slowing down in the holidays when they reduce the overspeed allowance because they dont want a camera or radar ticket. Its on my mind a lot of the time especially when I overrun down a hill or am still speeding as I approach a 30 mph sign.

Haven't seen one of those since I was in the states in 78.

There is no specific reason for accidents, carelessness would be high on the list, how do you police that?

If by chance you find yourself doing 36mph, then you will get a ticket, even though you are not going to have an accident due to your keen attentiveness.
