1268526 2012-04-05 22:15:00 Having been at a do where Wii sports featured strongly, I'm thinking about getting one myself. Trademe seems an obvious place to look. Are there any gotchas I should be wary of? How about this one (www.trademe.co.nz)? I'm not looking for lots of games, just maybe Wii Sports and Wii Fit.

Could plan B be to get a Kinect? What are the pros and cons?

1268527 2012-04-05 22:26:00 Kinect......meh

Millions sold, and no game ever released that makes it a worthy purchase.

Works well for fitness, dancing games and simple mini-games for younger children.

I'd still buy one rather then a Wii.

1268528 2012-04-05 22:39:00 Thanks for that - I think. :) So why would you still buy the Kinect? Of course I'd have to get an Xbox 360 as well - right? Tony (4941)
1268529 2012-04-05 22:44:00 Mainly because of all the good games on the xbox (just not Kinect games), It blows chunks over the wii in that regard.

The fitness "game" my wife uses is an impressive piece of software, it monitors the entire body through the routine, rather then a stick you hold in your hand.

1268530 2012-04-05 23:22:00 I'm really not fussed about games in general, either Wii or Xbox. I guess the Xbox is a more generalised device though, so could be more useful... Tony (4941)
1268531 2012-04-05 23:26:00 The Kinect isnt only for games. You can also control the Xbox (with speech / hand gestures) with some of the Xbox's options. I suppose it'll be good if you pay for a gold sub. You can use it in Skype as well. And probably FB. Once you install both of them. You can also use it in windows, if you get the hacked version of the drivers. Dont know if the released MS drivers work with the Kinect or not. MS say it wont. You'll have to buy another Kinect (so it'll work with the MS drivers). I use the Xbox more for streaming / using Media Centre and this tuner, than I do with the Kinect tho Speedy Gonzales (78)
1268532 2012-04-05 23:33:00 Yeah, well I'm actually not interested in any of that (no offence...). I'm really just looking at something for a bit of fitness and some sport games - ten-pin bowling etc. Tony (4941)
1268533 2012-04-05 23:36:00 Well you can get some of the Kinect games then. After you get a Kinect (thats if the Kinect doesnt come with the Xbox). At least you dont need the wand or whatever it is if you get a Wii. You use your hands / body / voice with an Xbox. And at least you wont smash the TV screen. Which did happen with the first Wii wand. Speedy Gonzales (78)
1268534 2012-04-05 23:42:00 Is there any advantage to the Kinect apart from not needing a wand/nunchuck etc? Tony (4941)
1268535 2012-04-05 23:48:00 Why not go for a walk if all you want to do is be a little more active? Ipods and podcasts can make things more interesting if you get bored globe (11482)
